Imagine: "What if we used the waterways, thereby reduce road traffic and therefore protect the environment ? And all that On-Demand, meaning whenever, and from where to where you want… Already known - but also unknown destinations would suddenly be so much easier to reach." - That’s the Elbtaxi vision!

Lines off for easy and flexible water-mobility! With the Elbtaxi app, you choose your departure time, your pick-up point and destination. On demand and tailored to your needs. Booking just for yourself — or for your crew? Our boats take up to 12 passengers. And by the way, at Elbtaxi we believe in sharing is caring: to keep fares low, we combine bookings heading in the same direction at the same time.

Request a ride
Open the Elbtaxi app and choose your pick-up and drop-off jetties from the list, or select them on the map. Then enter your desired departure time and the number of people in your booking. The app immediately shows you the possible departure time, the price and the estimated travel time.
Book
Timing and price are ok ? Then confirm your booking and receive a reservation code. The payment is made automatically using the method you have selected.
Get on board
The Elbtaxi boat awaits you at the agreed pick-up jetty. After a warm welcome from the skipper, it's “all aboard!” — and off we go.
Arriving
Enjoy the breathtaking views of Hamburg and the unique atmosphere out on the water. Our trained crew makes sure you reach your destination safely — and step ashore with a smile.
Where can I use Elbtaxi?
The River Elbe is our playground — from Wedel in the west to Entenwerder in the east, and down to Harburg in the south. Within this triangle we want to make all lock-free reachable destinations accessible by water.
We plan to use existing public and private jetties for boarding and drop-off, and are already in talks with the relevant authorities and institutions. Our aim is Elbtaxi´s seamless integration into Hamburg’s existing mobility network, to make you enjoy even more getting around the city. Looking ahead, we even imagine new additional Elbtaxi jetties being build, as part of Hamburg’s forward-thinking urban planning.
What's new?
Elbtaxi is currently still in the planning phase. As you can imagine, a concept this innovative comes with plenty of details to fine-tune and coordinate with local authorities. But don’t worry — we are on course! Our pilot phase will start soon, and we are hoping to contribute to Hamburg’s mobility landscape with a growing Elbtaxi fleet as from 2027.
